Appearances at World Cups

The national football team of Tunisia has participated in world cups four times. The first time was in 1978 in Argentina. It's when Tunisia was the first African country to win a world cup (in addition, not an easy team but the squad of Mexico was the rival). The Eagles of Carthage had participated in this tournament three times since them but didn't advance from the group. It's curious the victory over Mexico still remains the only win for Tunisia at world cups.

Head coach and best player

Despite a good performance in the qualification, the national team of Tunisia changed the head coach. A conflict with leaders of the national team became the reason for the dismissal of Polish specialist Henryk Kasperczak. So this African got to Russia under local coach Nabil Maâloul. Wahbi Khazri from French Rennes and central defender from Marseille Aymen Abdennour can be called the main stars of Tunisia.

  • Preliminary squad: Mathlouthi – Maâloul, Ben Youssef, Abdennour, Nagguez – Chaalali, Ben Amor, Sassi – Msakni, Khazri, Khenissi.

Base camp and cities

The national team of Tunisia will live in Pervomayskoye settlement in Moscow Oblast, not far from Stroitel stadium

The national teams of England, Belgium and Panama are in one group with the Africans. The Tunisians will play matches against them in different cities – Volgograd, Moscow and Saransk. Moreover, fans have already declared their last game with Panama the most boring in the tournament.
