In the style of musketry

Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra presents to the public the New Year programme

The New Year concert has recently been held in the Saydashev State Great Concert Hall, where participated the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, composer Maksim Dunayevsky, the conductor was Maestro Alexander Sladkovsky. The programme began with the performance of the works by Isaak Dunayevsky.

''We all enjoyed ourselves''

Maksim Dunayevsky, the son of legendary and, perhaps, main composing in easy genre in the Soviet era composer, has come to Kazan with a solo programme for the first time. Before to that, he visited the capital of Tatarstan several times, but these visits were remembered neither by the composer nor the public. When near the concert hall there appeared a poster stating that before the New Year it would be a concert with participation of Maksim Dunayevsky, tickets at the box office were sold in the blink of an eye.

Before the concert, Maksim Dunayevsky and Alexander Sladkovsky, who invited him to Kazan, communicated with the reporters. ''The fact that Maksim Dunayevsky for the first time in Kazan with this programme has been my long-standing dream. Because I grew up on this music. I played in the orchestra the party of the first tube when the song Wide is My Motherland by Isaak Dunayevsky was performed, played the music from the film In Search of the Castaways, of course, performed In our lifetime Let's enjoy by Maksim Dunayevsky. I am happy that we managed to coincide, and Maksim Isaakovich could come. We were not just rehearsing, we spent two days enjoying the atmosphere that is created by this music. This music is brilliant, amazing, it is so live, everlasting that when you play it, you enjoy yourself. For me it's not a pen test, but a conscious choice and the opportunity to perform for Tatarstan what I love. Especially in the presence of the person who wrote this. To perform the music by Mahler, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Dunayevsky – it is not given to everyone,'' Alexander Sladkovsky said.

To the question of Realnoe Vremya about how he evaluates the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, Maksim Dunayevsky told that he had known the team and Alexander Sladkovsky for a long time, he had been to their concerts. ''I know their style and tastes. But when you work directly with the orchestra, then relationships appear. Already for a long time I didn't have so much pleasure at the rehearsals. When everyone likes everything, although there are some comments. The skill to play different styles and genres, and not only playing, but conducting, and understand what you're doing, it tells about an entirely modern man — Sladkovsky. When making comments to brass and first violins, he can tell the guitarist what device to turn to sound better. This is the highest achievement. Bernstein once said that the future of modern music is in the synthesis of all its genres, and I try to follow these words,'' Maksim Dunayevsky commented.

Maksim Dunaevsky showed to be a good showman in addition to everything else. With humour, delicately he was commenting on the concert, played the piano and even sang

Well, sing us a song…

The first part of the concert began with the famous overture of Isaak Dunayevsky for the film In Search of the Castaways. Sladkovsky did not take a minute for entry into the musical fabric, he literally collapsed the ninth wave of the sounds on the audience. The famous, well-known to many generations music by Dunayevsky immediately whirled the audience like in a whirlpool.

Then there came on stage Maksim Dunayevsky, sat at the piano and… showed to be a good showman in addition to everything else. With humour, delicately he was commenting on the concert, played the piano and even sang.

The main block of performances in the concert were works by Dunayevsky Jr. The music for films, excerpts from musicals, songs included in the Golden Fund of the Russian stage. Mary Poppins, Goodbye, Oh, vaudeville, Carnival, the new musical Scarlet Sails —the public received all the performances enthusiastically, singing and clapping to the beat. The New Year tree in the upper lobby, decorated with garlands from spruce branches auditorium — all this created a festive atmosphere.

The famous song from the film about the musketeers In our lifetime Let's enjoy was saved for last — and here the audience in unison was singing along with the soloists and the composer. Yes, Dunayevsky inherited from his father a beautiful melody, ease, and some children's excitement.

Sladkovsky with boyish bravery was conducted the pop hits. The entire concert was at a good pace, like a musketeer attack

The composer was charming, he easily led the conversation with the audience, but Dunayevsky-showman failed to beat the conductor. Sladkovsky was at his best, as always he was the hero of the concert, it was seen even with the naked eye how he was enjoying the music, he was like charging from each melody, giving his energy to the orchestra and the audience.

The maestro was improvising, he was inspiring, he, who just recently amazed by the depth of the reading of Mahler and Shostakovich, the romantic elements in Iolanthe, just sung in the concert variant, suddenly, with boyish bravery was conducted the pop hits. The entire concert was at a good pace, like a musketeer attack.

Leonard Bernstein was right, whom Maksim Dunaevsky quoted — the future belongs to synthetic genres. What has been demonstrated by the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra.
