The exhibition 'The Tatars and the world: shamails from the collection of the Ethnographic Museum of the Kazan Federal University' opened in the Museum of history of statehood of the Republic of Tatatstan yesterday. The exhibition is based on the famous collection ofthe Russian Turkologist, Professor at Kazan Imperial University Nikolai Katanov. In addition to the collection of printed shamails of the Ethnographic Museum of the Kazan Federal University, the exhibition presents the archival materials connected with the activities of Nikolai Katanov and travel notes of Tatar pilgrims of the late XIX – early XX centuries.
