The second leg of the Women's Sevens European Grand Prix Series kicked off in Kazan at the Central Stadium on 8 July. Director of the Russian Anti-Monopoly Service, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Rugby Federation Igor Artemyev and Prime Minister of Tatarstan, President of the Tatarstan Rugby Federation Aleksey Pesoshin took part in the ceremony.
Over 180 athletes from 12 European countries - the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, England, Ireland, France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Belgium - arrived in Kazan to take part in the competition.
Kazan rugby celebrates a jubilee in 2017. The first training session of Kazan rugby players took place in the capital of Tatarstan at Dinamo stadium 50 years ago, in 1967.
