Autumn results: companies of Tatartsan have been assessed in federal centre

Three ratings, presented by Forbes, RBC and RAEX agency last month, show how the sanctions, low oil prices, weak ruble and decline in consumer demand have affected the performance of key companies of Russia. What a moving direction of the Tatarstan flagships, included in the federal lists, is now – in the review of Realnoe Vremya.

The largest companies of Russia by RAEX-600

A table of ranks of major companies in the country was presented in the form of three ratings in September. Forbes has published its version of the list of 200 largest private companies of Russia of this year. Another magazine, RBC, has released a ranking of the 500 largest companies by revenue. At the end of September, the rating Agency RAEX (Expert RA) presented the top 600 companies in 2015. The latter has shown that the largest companies lost more than $ 450 billion last year. RAEX-600 has taken into account an indicator of the volume of sales of products (works, services) in 2015. This ranking has almost no sector-specific restrictions, so it includes companies from different sectors of the economy.

RAEX-600 shows that the total volume of dollar revenue of the 600 largest companies in Russia amounted to 1,1 trillion dollars. A year ago, in 2014, this index exceeded 1,55 trillion dollars. Moreover, if we evaluate the results in retrospect, Expert RA states that, from the point of view of volume of business, the leading companies have rolled back to the 2007 level. However, the Agency notes that private business is coping with the crisis better than state-owned companies or subsidiaries of foreign corporations.

Kazanorgsintez, belonging to diversified holding TAIF, has climbed up to 159th place, while in 2014 it was 183th. Last year, the company produced output at 68,80 billion rubles, which is by 27.2% more than in 2014

Among those 16 companies from Tatarstan in the top 600, there are some that have improved their position in the ranking. For example, Kazanorgsintez, beonging to the diversified holding TAIF, has climbed up to 159th place, while in 2014 it was 183th. Last year, the company produced output at 68,80 billion rubles, which is by 27,2% more than in 2014, and has begun implementing the development strategy until 2025. Tatenergosbyt, that has increased net profit by 25% up to 819 million rubles in a year, has risen in the ranking from 213th to 210 th place. A large universal bank with state participation AK BARS has shifted from 278th to 223rd place. Grid Company, that has launched a new energy source Begishevo at 220 kV, has shifted up from 427 to 420 place. The oilfield services company TNG-Group has risen from the 451 to 439 position. The sharpest jump — from 561 to 452 — has been made by Tatfondbank, ranking among 40 largest banks in Russia by equity capital and 50 largest banks in terms of assets.

Tatneft is one of the 20 largest companies by sales volume in the top 600 ranking, it takes the 17th place with an index of 552,712 million rubles by sales volume. A year earlier, the figure was 476,360 million rubles. The 71th place, having lost only one position, has been taken by Nizhnekamskneftekhim of TAIF holding with an index of 155,768 million rubles by the sales volume, the growth rate — 13.7%. The 77th place — the refinery plant TAIF-NK, which is implementing the ambitious heavy residue conversion complex in conditions of such adverse environment, when a decline in world oil prices was followed by much bigger than on oil drop in prices for petroleum products. All this was accompanied by a sharp weakening of the national currency. Due to the falling world prices, exports of oil and refined products from Russia in 2015 decreased twofold in dollar terms, while in the commodity terms the supply to far abroad increased by 10,6%.

Ford Sollers Yelabuga has shown a strong decrease

The 274th place belongs to the retail chain Essen, owned by Vadim Makheyev and Leonid Baryshev. The supplier of petroleum products NefteProductTrade has taken the 334th place; TMS Group, serving the oilfield ground equipment, has taken the 447th position.

Ford Sollers Yelabuga has shown a strong decrease: it has fallen from 400th place to 514th, having lost more than a hundred positions. Ford Sollers Holding has fallen from 180 to 235 position. Generating Company has lost nine positions in the ranking, taking the 285th, while the previous year it took 274 place. A subsidiary company of TAIF Group, TGC-16, which integrates the advanced gas turbine manufactured by General Electric into the thermal cycle of the Kazan CHP-3, took 454th place.

'Large business continues to be in a zone of unstable growth, but it feels definitely better than the economy as a whole,' comment on the rating results the head of practice for the provision of audit services PwC Aleksey Ivanov. 'The total revenue of the rating inflation is stagnant, but it's much better than falling by 3.7%, demonstrated by Russia's GDP in 2015. The ruble devaluation in relation to the key foreign currencies has led to significant revenue growth in the export-oriented industries, which, unlike oil, gas and metallurgical industries, has not had commensurate decline in world prices.'

Top 500 largest companies in Russia according to RBC

According to the data on the RBC website, the main indicator of the rating, according to which the companies are ranked, is a revenue, purified from VAT, excise duties and export duties. The total revenue from the main activity has been calculated as equivalent to revenue for the companies in the financial sector (banks, insurance, stock exchange, private pension funds and others). The ranking presents parent companies of the operating holding companies that prepare consolidated financial statements, which take into account indicators of the parent company and its subsidiaries. If the company does not publish consolidated financial statements or did not provide data from it to participate in the rating, then it is represented either the parent company with unconsolidated data or the largest operating company of the holding.

Thus, the top five in the comparison table includes Gazprom, Lukoil, Rosneft, Sberbank and Russian Railways. The RBC analysts called Tatneft the leader among the Tatarstan companies, it takes the 16th place, like last year. Nizhnekamskneftekhim is the 67th. TAIF-NK — the 75th. This ranking, in contrast to the rating of Expert RA, includes KAMAZ. The company takes 109th place, having shifted down by 18 positions.

The chemical company Kazanorgsintez has risen by 19 positions, having taken 150th place. On the 201st place — GC TransTekhServis, descended by 46 positions. Tatenergosbyt is 203rd, which is by six positions lower compared to a year earlier. AK BARS Bank, sharply climbed up by 37 positions, is 220th. The largest private companies of Russia according to Forbes

Unlike RAEX-600, Forbes data show more rosy picture: the revenues of the 200 largest private companies have risen over the year by 13%. The financial and economic magazine explains that the list of 200 companies includes enterprises, in the capital of which the state and foreign owners have a share of no more than 50%. They have been ranked according to revenue in 2015. Preference is given to data of IFRS. The list does not include banks, insurance, leasing, investment and other financial companies because of their significant differences from the commercial and industrial companies in business and accounting statement. Besides, the rankings do not reflect the companies, activities of which consist in managing the assets, but the companies that they manage are taken into account.

Despite the fact that RBC and Forbes assess the enterprises by revenue volume, the assessment methodology differs, therefore, the top five of Forbes magazine include Lukoil, Surgutneftegas, Magnit, X5 Retail Group, and Vimpelcom. Tatarstan group of companies Tatneft and TAIF are among the top 10 largest Russian private companies. They took seventh and tenth places, respectively. Tatneft revenue was 552,7 billion rubles, a year growth amounted to 76,3 billion rubles. TAIF group of companies added 55,1 billion rubles in a year, the revenue of the company was 524,2 billion rubles.

NKNK takes 41th position with revenue at 155,8 billion rubles, which is 18.8 billion more than a year earlier

The list includes five companies from Tatarstan. Following the TAIF Nizhnekamskneftekhim is part of this group, which is strange, because among the group of companies Forbes has already specified a net revenue. NKNK takes 41th position with revenue at 155,8 billion rubles, which is 18.8 billion more than a year earlier. The 67th place belongs to KAMAZ, which decreased a year net profit by 13,1 billion to 97,5 billion rubles. Kazanorgsintez takes 104th place, its revenues have increased by 14,1 billion rubles, amounting to 68,7 billion rubles. The 140th is TransTekhServis, which has lost in revenue of 10.3 billion rubles, it accounted to 48,6 billion rubles. The automotive market continues to fall, by the end of this year the decline may reach 1015%.

This is the business landscape of Tatarstan, according to the autumn results, summarized in summary tables of the ratings of the leading business mass media of Russia and the agency RAEX.
