General Electric and TAIF reduce energy deficiency in Kazan
Yesterday Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the administration of General Electric. They talked about collaboration on the modernization of energy and industrial infrastructure of Tatarstan. Later the guests met with the TAIF Group of Companies. The volume of collective turnover of TAIF and General Electric might reach $1bn. The partners have a number of common projects: the construction of a new block of gas-turbine plant and delivery of equipment for Nizhnekamskneftekhim.
General Electric promises to perform works to the deadline
Yesterday John Rice, the Vice President of General Electric, met with President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in order to discuss issues on the modernization of energy units and petrochemical enterprises of the republic. Later the GE representatives had a meeting with their partners from Tatarstan – Generating Company PJSC and TAIF GC.
The meeting in TAIF started by discussing business issues concerning the construction of the new block of the gas-turbine plant in the Kazan CHP Plant-3. It should be noted that the equipment is to put into operation in the first quarter of 2017. It will enable to increase the efficiency of the CHPP-3 by 80% that, in turn, allows to reduce the power deficit in the energy area of Kazan. As John Rice states, the whole team mobilized and aimed to perform the project to the deadline.

The next issue of the agenda was about common projects of GE and the TAIF Group of Companies in Nizhnekamskneftekhim. According to Albert Shigabutdinov, the director general of TAIF PJSC, today GE delivers most of the materials and equipment for Nizhnekamskneftekhim. We speak specifically about compressors, pumps and electrotechnical equipment. In addition, General Electric and TAIF discussed variants of additional financial resources for common projects.
It is thought that the volume of the collective turnover might reach $1bn. In conclusion, the parties signed a memorandum on intentions that presupposes collaboration within the scope of the construction of the new ethylene production on the territory of Nizhnekamskneftekhim.
John Rice mentioned a meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov where projects on petroleum refining and water purification technologies were discussed. Albert Shigabutdinov notes that in Kazanorgsintez, Nizhnekamskneftekhim, in the realization of the projects of TGC-16, CHPP-1 and CHPP-3, they pay attention to the performance of purification plants saying that, 'Our specialists think you have one of the best technologies in the world'.
