Rustam Minnikhanov’s 12 months: from Year of Parks and water Mundial to Presidential Election

  The Year of Parks and Public Gardens in Tatarstan was set up on the initiative of Rustam Minnikhanov at the beginning of spring. The head of the republic had an aide in this sphere. Initiative groups started to elaborate concepts of public spaces.

• April 2015
  The final discussion of the project on Social and Economic Development Strategy of Tatarstan till 2030 took place on 11 April in Korston. The document was brought before the State Council for adoption as a law of the republic. On the same day, Rustam Minnikhanov visited a new residence of the art industry 'Shtab' and took part in an international conference on development of creative industries called Calvert Forum. According to one of the founders of the forum and ex-vice-PM of Russia Aleksey Kudrin, this industry will help the country to get rid of the dependence on petroleum.

• May 2015
  On 9 May the whole country celebrated the 70^th anniversary of Victory Day. Renewed, Victory Park opened and Victory Day Parade was held in Kazan.

• June 2015
  The official opening of Innopolis was an important event of the first summer month, The PM of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, the Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of Russia Nikolai Nikiforov, the Minister of Education and Science of Russia Dmitry Livanov and other high-ranking functionaries visited the ceremony. The innovative city became the centre of many important events within few months: exhibitions, forums and conferences.

• July 2015
  In July, Kazan hosted FINA World Championships. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin opened the water Mundial. As the president of the International Swimming Federation Julio Maglione said, the championship in Kazan was the best in the whole history of FINA.

  Kazan won the right to host WorldSkills Competition in 2019 in the last month of summer. Rustam Minnikhanov, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia Olga Golodets, the head of WorldSkills Russia Pavel Chernykh, the director general of the state corporation Rosatom Sergey Kirienko took part in the presentation of Kazan as a candidate-city from the Russian Federation. Paris (France) and Charleroi (Belgium) bid for the 45th WorldSkills Competition.

• September 2015
  Nationwide alternative election of the President of the republic took place on 13 September for the first time in many years. Having scored 94,4% votes, that is to say, over 2 million people, Rustam Minnikhanov was the winner among four candidates. The inauguration of the elected President of the Republic of Tatarstan was on 18 September. And on 28 September, Rustam Minnikhanov addressed with his speech to the State Council of the republic.

• October 2015
  Conclusions of the first stage of work on the programme on renewal of parks and public gardens of the republic were drawn in October. In 2015, the budget of Tatarstan expended 1bn rubles on this purpose. About 300m rubles were channeled to parks of Kazan. Investors provided about 600m rubles more.

  In November, industrial production of Euro-5 petroleum started in Gasoline Plant in TAIF-NK PJSC in Nizhnekamsk. But not only production is developing in the city of petrochemists: families of workers of TAIF Group of Companies were given keys to their new flats and Neftekhimik FC got a reconstructed centre for training.

• December 2015
  The ceremonial opening of the Multimodal Logistics Centre of Sviyazhsk took place at the end of the last month in 2015. The launch of the Centre was executed via TV conference. The director general of FSI Rostransmodernizatsiya Ilya Gudkov gave a symbolic key of the complex to the vice-PM of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin. The head of the republic together with the Minister of Transport of Russia Maksim Sokolov witnessed this event from Moscow.

  Despite the crisis, Tatarstan is not going to stop its development. Presented at Gaidar Forum, the development programme of Kama agglomeration or Innokama at 750bn rubles, which is a would-be status of top federal project, was supported by key heads of federal Ministries: Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport of Russia. It means that Tatarstan can count on at least governmental support of Kama infrastructural projects at 300bn rubles.

  KAMAZ celebrated its 40^thanniversary of the first vehicle produced on 12 February. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin came to congratulate the workers. Putin also chaired a meeting of the Military and Industrial Commission and officially launched the integrated complex on manufacturing ammonia, methanol and granulated carbamide Ammoni in Mendeleevsk together with Rustam Minnikhanov via video conference.
